Barcelona are considering a summer swoop for on-loan Atletico Madrid striker, Alvaro Morata.
Barcelona are in search of a new striker to improve their firepower in preparations for next season. The Catalan side let Luis Suarez join Atletico last summer but have struggled to replace the Uruguayan since then. A third place finish in La Liga coupled with an early exit from the Champions League means Barcelona have got to be active in the transfer market this summer.
The Blaugranas have long been touted as a likely destination for soon to be out of contract Man City striker, Sergio Aguero, but may now turn their attention to Juventus striker Alvaro Morata.
On loan from Atletico Madrid, Morata’s loan deal expires this summer and Juventus have not expressed any interest yet in making the Spainard’s deal permanent.

Morata has scored 18 goals for the Old Lady this season, making him their second highest goalscorer in all competitions, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo. However, with Juventus missing out on the league title for the first time in 9 years, and struggling to qualify for the Champions League, there may be a need for a rebuild in Turin.
With Morata now reportedly on Barca’s rader, the Old Lady has to make a decision whether to extend his loan deal, or exercise their option to buy.

Meanwhile, it is uncertain if Atletico Madrid would sanction Morata’s move to a direct rival. However, if Griezmann’s transfer to Catalunya a few seasons ago is something to go by, Atletico could yet cash in on Alvaro Morata, either by selling to Juventus, or Barcelona. This could just be a case of the quickest/highest bidder, but recall that Juventus do have an option to buy.
