Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the signing of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City. The 23-year-old England defender joins for a reported fee of £45m, signing a deal until 2025.
Ben Chilwell is Frank Lampard’s latest addition following the arrival of Timo Werner, Hakimi Ziyech and Xavier Mbuyamba this summer.
Chilwell is delighted and relishing the prospect of working with Frank Lampard, and is looking forward to helping Chelsea compete for titles next season.
I like the way he sets up his teams to play, and the opportunities he gives to young players who are good enough
Chilwell is the third Leicester player to sign for Chelsea in the last 4 years. Ngolo Kante in 2016, and Drinkwater in 2017 being the other players to have made the switch to Stamford Bridge in that time.
Chelsea has been very active in the transfer market this window, and are still looking to do more business. Thiago Silva is expected to complete a move to West London in the coming days.
The signing of Ben Chilwell looks a step in the right direction as Chelsea look to fortify their defense ahead of the new season.
Speculations have also been in the media that Lionel Messi could be heading to Stamford Bridge
