Manchester City are through to the Champions League final for the first time in their history. The Cityzens are heading to Istanbul after emphatically beating Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday night.

Riyad Mahrez scored twice as City defeated PSG for the second time in a week to book their place in this year’s final. Just like in the first leg, Paris had to finish the game with 10 men after Di Maria was sent off for violent conduct. This was after Mahrez had fired City 2-1 up on the night, and 4-1 on aggregate.

It is quite a remarkable achievement for Pep Guardiola’s men who brought their A-game defensively and offensively. They prevented their opponent from mustering a single shot on target. City who are close to wrapping up the Premier League title can now look forward to a European final, their first in 51 years. With the EFL Cup already in the bag, Man City are on course to end the season with a historic treble.
PSG saw off brilliant teams like Barcelona and Bayern Munich before reaching this stage. However, they have come short against arguably the best team in Europe.
Last year’s beaten finalists PSG looked a far cry from the team that dispatched Barcelona in the round of 16. Without Kylian Mbappe in the starting lineup, it was always going to be a daunting task for the Parisians. Although the Frenchman didn’t score or get a shot on target in the first leg against Man City, he is always a potent threat -his goals against Barca and Bayern are testament.
