We have come to the final match week of this season’s Champions League group stages. With 9 teams already through to the knockout rounds, there are still 7 berths up for grabs going into Match day 6! Expect lots passion and intensity and another feel to the game as so many big names are at the risk of dropping to the Europa League. Real Madrid and Manchester United are still not safe and would need to do the needful this week to add their names to the pots when the Round of 16 draw will be made on December 14th at 12:00 CET at UEFA’s headquarters in Switzerland.

Cannot qualify to round of 16 but can drop to Europa League

Who needs what to go through?
In Group B, Real Madrid find themselves in a difficult situation with their qualification hopes tied to a string, though all the teams in this group still have chances of qualifying to the round of 16! Things are very tight in this group with all the teams still able to qualify. The Los Blancos host Group B leaders Borussia Mochenglabach on Wednesday night. Zinedine Zdane’s men will have to defeat the Germans to guarantee qualification. A draw could also be enough for Real Madrid if and only if Inter Millan beats Shakhtar Donetsk in the other fixture. Should Inter defeat Shakhtar, they would need Borussia Mochenglabach to beat Real Madrid.
Man United, PSG and RB Leipzig are all tied on 9 points in Group H
The Red Devils will be guaranteed if they avoid defeat at Leipzig. They will also top the group if they win and Paris St. Germain fails to beat İstanbul Başakşehir. PSG will qualify if they avoid defeat to Başakşehir tonight, or if they lose and Leipzig vs Man United doesn’t end in a draw. The Parisians will be guaranteed first place if they beat Başakşehir at Parc Des Princes. Leipzig will qualify if they beat Man United, or if they draw and PSG lose to Başakşehir. They will finish top of the group if they win and PSG do not.
Dortmund already through & aiming to finish top in Group F
Borussia Dortmund are already in the round of 16, and will be group winners if they defeat Zenit St Petersburg, if both games are drawn, or whatever their result if Lazio lose to Club Brugge. Lazio will go through if they avoid defeat when they play Club Brugge. They will win the group if they win and Dortmund do not, or if Lazio draw and Dortmund lose. Club Brugge will be guaranteed qualification if they beat Lazio.
Bayern have won Group A , Atlético and Salzburg aiming for second place.
Diego Simeone’s Atlético will reach the round of 16 if they do not lose to Salzburg, who will go qualify instead if they beat Atlético. Group D sees Ajax and Atalanta vying for second place. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have already qualified as group winners, while one of Ajax and Atalanta who play each will qualify on Wednesday! Atalanta will finish second if they avoid defeat by Ajax.
