Depay opens up on Barca dream, says he wants to play under Ronald Koeman
Memphis Depay’s future has been a subject of media attention in recent weeks. With many rumours linking him with a summer move to Barcelona, Depay has dropped further hints that a move to Camp Nou is likely on the cards.
The 27-year-old is a free agent after opting not to extend his contract at Lyon.
Ahead of Netherland’s second EURO2020 Group C game, the forward told journalists that he would love to work with former Netherlands and current Barcelona coach, Ronald Koeman.
“Things will become clear with the transfer. I want to leave it at that for now,” said Depay.
“Everyone knows that I have been linked to Barcelona for a long time and that I want to play under Ronald Koeman.
“Let’s wait and see.”
The former Manchester United man was a key figure in Ronald Koeman’s squad while he was coach of the Dutch National team and Depay is looking to reunite with the Barca legend.
Having previously stated that the Catalan club was interested in signing him; Memphis Depay’s declaration of his desire to play for Koeman can only mean one thing. He will be a Barcelona player soon.
Barcelona have already completed the transfer of Sergio Aguero who joined from Manchester City on a free transfer.
