Zinedine Zidane’s men put in a strong first half display to beat Barcelona 2-1 at Estadio Di Stefano on Saturday. Karim Benzema opened the scoring with a terrific back-heeled finish before the in-form Toni Kroos scored from a free kick. Oscar Mingueza’s second half goal was not enough to savage a point for the Blaugranes.
Real could have had a third but for the post and some brilliant goalkeeping from Ter Stegen. Casemiro was sent off following a second yellow card minutes from full time.

It was an important victory for Real Madrid who move to the top of the table in La Liga having the same amount of points as Atletico Madrid (66), who play on Sunday.
Real Madrid will now turn their attention to their Champions League quarter final date with Liverpool at Anfield. Los Blancos hold a 3-1 lead from the first leg.
