UEFA Champions League quarter final results
Man City 1-2 Borussia Dortmund (agg. 4-2)
Pep Guardiola is still on course to lead Man City to their first Champions League crown. The Etihad outfit dispatched Dortmund with relative ease, winning 2-1 home and away to book their place in the semi finals. City still have a realistic chance of winning an unprecedented quadruple this season. They face Chelsea in the FA cup semi final on Saturday.
Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid (agg. 3-1)
Can the season get any worse for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool? They are out of the Premier League title race, out of the domestic cups and now also out of the Champions League. The Reds knew they had a mammoth task after falling to a 3-1 defeat in Madrid last week and were expected to put in a display reminiscent of their famous European comebacks in the second leg. However, their attackers could not find their scoring touch against Madrid at Anfield -probably missing the stadium crowd.
PSG 0-1 Bayern Munich (agg. 3-3)
So there goes defending champions Bayern out of the Champions League. The Bavarians fought had bought that first leg defeat in Munich has proven to be costly. Neymar was the man on fire for PSG tonight, but it is worth remembering that it is thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s goals that the Parisians are in the semis.
Chelsea 0-1 Porto (agg. 2-1)
Like a dream, Chelsea’s quest for a second Champions League crown continues. The Londoners did most of the work in the first leg, and tonight was more like a group match. At least until late on when Mehdi Taremi scored that one heck of an overhead kick -absolute stunner that was. However, Chelsea held on to progress on aggregate.
